NHRC - JSA National Public HearingDates: 16-17 December 2004 Venue: India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi
The ongoing series of public hearings on the Right to Health Care will culminate in the National Public Hearing in New Delhi on 16 and 17 December 2004, organised by NHRC and JSA.
During the National Public Hearing major policy level issues such as a critical review of national health policy and its implementation, strengthening Primary Health Care from a rights perspective, national and state health budgets, women's right to health care, children's right to health care, health care rights of disabled persons, mental health rights, health rights in situations of conflict and displacement, occupational and environmental health rights, health rights in the context of the private medical sector, health rights in the context of HIV-AIDS, right to essential drugs etc. would be discussed. It is proposed that the hearing culminate in presentation of a National Action Plan to establish, fulfill and monitor the Right to Health Care.
