NHRC - JSA North Eastern Region Public Hearing

The North Eastern Regional Public Hearing covering the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim was held in Guwahati on  28th November 2004 at the Satya Nath Borah Hall.

 

The hearing started with welcome address by Dr. A. Barkaoti, Joint. Director, State Resource Centre. Dr. Abhay Sukla from JSA Secretariat narrated objective of the hearing. Mr. P.C.Sharma, Member NHRC Spoke in details about the health rights and tasks to be perfumed by the Government machinery. The hearing was also attended by Commissioner & Secretary of Health Govt. of Assam, Director of Health Service, Govt. of Arunachal, Director of Health Services, Govt. of Tripura . Testimonies were presented by 14 persons 

 

Due to lack of time many cases of denial and negligence could not be presented. People from Meghalaya and Nagaland did not come since no preparatory task could be made. However, Mr. P.C.Sharma suggested that state wise hearing should be organised later
